The MAS Graduation Ceremony Celebrates Classes of 2020-2022 and 2022-2024

Last night, NADEL celebrated the MAS graduates of 2020-2022 and 2022-2024 in a ceremony at ETH Zurich, highlighting their achievements and honoring ETH Medalist Mischa Weber for his outstanding thesis on the climate-conflict nexus in Ethiopia.

NADEL hosted a memorable graduation ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of the MAS classes of 2020-2022 and 2022-2024. The event at ETH Zurich was a blend of inspiration, reflection, and joy, marked by outstanding achievements and camaraderie among graduates.

The evening began with a welcome address from Professor Dr. Isabel Günther, Academic Director of NADEL, followed by the certificate-awarding ceremony led by Professor Günther and Dr. Fritz Brugger, Co-Director of NADEL. Graduates and guests were moved by the speeches from student representatives Debora Cohen and Aravind Edamanakunnel Soman, capturing their MAS journey at NADEL.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the ETH Medal by Professor Dr. Stefano Brusoni, Prorector for Continuing Education. This prestigious medal was awarded to Mischa Weber for his exceptional Master’s thesis, "Unravelling the Climate–Conflict Nexus in Pastoralist Areas: Lessons from the Ethiopian Lowlands."His work was praised for its meticulous presentation, nuanced insights into the climate-conflict nexus, and actionable recommendations for development actors.

Adding to the celebration was a keynote address by NADEL alumnus Felix Gnehm, Managing Director of SolidarSuisse, who shared his reflections on the importance of development cooperation in today's complex global landscape. The event also featured music by Amaru Küng and concluded with a festive apéro.
