Kathrin has completed her PhD at the ETH Development Economics Group (DEC) in 2023 on "Universal Health Coverage in sub-Saharan Africa: The need for inclusive, sustainable, and resilient health systems". In her doctoral thesis Kathrin highlighted that significant challenges to achieve Universal Health Coverage persist, particularly in sub-Saharan African countries, and especially for the most vulnerable populations.
Kathrin's dissertation has recently been awarded an ETH Silver Medal, which honours outstanding doctoral theses.
In her new position as a postdoctoral fellow funded by the SNSF Postdoc.Mobility at Harvard T.H. Chan School of public health, Department of Global Health and Population, Kathrin will investigate how to overcome barriers to achieve Universal Health Coverage, aiming to more equitable and accessible healthcare for all. The research aims to generate vital empirical evidence on the effectiveness of specific interventions, e.g., in the health system in Ghana.
We will greatly miss Kathrin as an inspiring, warm-hearted and impressively efficient colleague. However, we are confident that our paths will continue to cross and that we will have many more joint research adventures in the future. We wish Kathrin all the best!
