Rutger Bregman at ETH Zurich

Join our conversation with author and historian Rutger Bregman to explore why the narrative about human nature is up for a revision and what this implies for global cooperation.

Narratives control our minds. Continuously repeated narratives about the nature of human beings or the role of the state are so powerful because they become unquestioned “common sense”. By looking at history, Rutger Bregman challenges the taken-for-granted narrative about the selfish, utility-maximizing nature of human beings that informs how we organize society and policies.

For our third anniversary event "Rethinking Society for an Inclusive World", NADEL will host Rutger Bregman on 7 April 2022, 17:00 CET at ETH Zurich, Audimax HG F30 and catch up on the event that had to be cancelled in December due to COVID-19 restrictions. The discussion will be moderated by Marcy Goldberg, Zurich-based cultural commentator and lecturer in cultural and media studies.

The event is free and open to the public.
