New Study on Anemia Risk in Sub-Saharan Africa
NADEL's Dr Kenneth Harttgen has co-authored a new paper on anemia risk among children and women in sub-Saharan Africa.

Published in Nature Communications Medicine, the research in this new paper uses spatial modeling to map the prevalence of anemia at a high resolution, helping identify areas where interventions may be most needed.
Anemia is a severe condition among children associated with adverse health effects such as impaired growth, limited physical and cognitive development, and increased mortality risk. It remains widespread, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. In this study, Kenneth contributed to the analysis of socioeconomic factors influencing anemia rates. The findings aim to support policymakers and health organizations in better targeting resources to improve health outcomes in the region.
