Are you involved in a small development project or initiative? Do you want to strengthen your understanding of global sustainable development efforts and learn practical tools to make your work more effective? ETH NADEL’s three-day course, The Basics of Development and Cooperation – Theory and Practice, offers a unique opportunity to bridge theory and practice while learning from experienced practitioners.

Participants will explore critical questions like: What is development? Why do poverty and inequality persist? The course delves into the historical evolution of development cooperation, including its colonial legacies, and introduces good practices such as aid effectiveness, participatory approaches, ethics, and locally led development. Additionally, the program provides hands-on training in project cycle management and donor reporting for international cooperation.

This course is designed for people who are engaged in small development-related projects or initiatives, as well as anyone with a strong interest in the field. With no formal entry requirements, it is open to a wide range of participants who want to deepen their knowledge and skills.

The course fee is CHF 570, and all sessions will be conducted in English. Lectures will be delivered by an expert team from ETH NADEL, including Shruti Patel, Isabel Günther, Kenneth Harttgen, Medinat Malefakis, and others. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate, though no ECTS credits are awarded.
