The 2030 Agenda calls on all countries of the world to support sustainable development: ecologically and socially, nationally and worldwide. In this political compass, development and ecology are closely linked for the first time. However, the implementation of the 2030 Agenda is lagging behind.

Martin Fässler

In an interview with Fritz Brugger, Martin Fässler explains why Switzerland should dare to break down ministerial silos to help improve the impact of its development cooperation. The NADEL graduate (1988) was Chief of Staff and a member of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and for many years responsible for drafting the Dispatch on Switzerland's Strategy for International Cooperation. In the podcast, Fässler also discusses why the space of civil society is narrowing, why cinema is apt for promoting understanding between countries and Switzerland’s bid for a seat on the UN Security Council, among other topics.
