Half the population in poverty. A deep recession. A corrupt power elite. More than 1.7 million refugees have flooded the country, even as the COVID-19 outbreak continues – Lebanon is currently going through every crisis imaginable, says Monika Schmutz Kirgöz, Swiss Ambassador to Lebanon.

In the interview with Fritz Brugger, the ETH-NADEL alumna of ‘93 discusses the challenges facing the Lebanese people, but sees hope in the country’s strong civil society and freedom of speech.

Also on the podcast: Switzerland's holistic government approach, the backlash on gender equality, and why she is impressed by Canada's feminist foreign policy.
