Winners of the impact award 2017

In order to inspire NGOs to learn from impact evaluations and integrate them into their work, SDC and NADEL have, for the second time, asked Swiss NGOs working in international development to submit proposals for an impact evaluations on their work. We have received proposals from 30 Swiss NGOs partnering with various European research institutions.

Consciente – Unterstützungsverein für El Salvador and the Swiss Red Cross will be both granted 50.000 CHF to conduct an impact evaluation over the next two years. Consciente – Unterstützungsverein für El Salvador will work with the Center for Regional Economic Development at the University of Bern, and measure the impact of a Computer Assisted Learning Project in Morazán, El Salvador. Swiss Red Cross will work with the Cooperation and Development Center at EPFL Lausanne, and measure the impact of a disaster risk management program in Olancho, Honduras. Both proposals were found excellent, with a well-designed methodology and with high relevance for the organizations.

We congratulate the winners, and are looking forward to seeing these impact evaluations being implemented. We would also like to thank all other NGOs having participated in the call, and hope that many will continue to plan and implement impact evaluations in the future.
