Towards Food and Nutrition Security

Course objective:

Despite huge advances in global food production, 2.3 billion people remain food insecure and 2.6 billion people cannot afford a healthy diet. How can we nourish a growing population amid conflict, economic shocks and extreme weather events, whilst respecting the earth's planetary boundaries and securing decent livelihoods for all?

This course equips development practitioners with the tools and frameworks used to assess, measure and design effective food security interventions. Participants learn how to address the structural barriers to universal food security, and explore different pathways for building resilient and sustainable food systems — from agroecology to social protection and trade policy, recognising synergies and trade-offs between them.
